Topic: Active PDF Toolkit....Trouble setting hidden variables

I am not sure if you have worked with Active PDF Toolkit, but if you have you might be able to answer this question.
I am trying to set a hidden variable "xyz", that's defined as hidden in PDF template file, from some value in database using ASP.
Here is the thing.....If I use constant values to populate that hidden variable it works fine. If I use values from database, it does not work.

This works fine..........
str = "123456789"
R = PDF.SetFormFieldData("xyz",cstr(str),2)

This does not work.........
str = cstr(rs2("Provider")) '''''''If I print this value it prints okay.
R = PDF.SetFormFieldData("xyz",cstr(str),2)

SetFormFieldData has several options for the third argument. "2" is to set hidden variable in PDF, "1" is to keep the variable hidden if its defined as hidden in PDF. None of these options work. If I use"-998" or "-997" it prints that "xyz" in PDF from database, but I wanna keep it hidden because I am parsing that value and displaying them in comb fields character by character.

What's wrong with setting hidden variables from database using Active PDF Toolkit?? Any idea???

Thanks,
Mrunal.
