Just when I though I understood this I got all confused.

OS Win XP PRo. Acrobat 6 Pro

I scanned a color document. Added some form fields to it saved it and then used the built in PDF Optimizer. The file got smaller, but also is now totally without color. I have previously operated this function with "enable adaptive compression" checked and I don't recall this reaction, but previous color documents have been created from Word.

Switching to the manual choices seems to have resolved the situation, but my question becomes, "is it supposed to work like this?" and if not, "is it resolved in 7?"
