Topic: Developing an Embedded Viewer Reader Plug-in

Hi - I'm trying to write a Reader plug-in that will allow graphical/interactive viewing of custom data that is embedded in a PDF file by an Acrobat plug-in (which I also need to write). The scenario is similar to a Word or PPT doc with an embedded custom ActiveX control - which is what I have currently that I am trying to duplicate in PDF. Since I cannot find anything that will simply allow me to embed my ActiveX control in a PDF doc, I'm hoping that I can write an authoring Acrobat plug-in that will embedded arbitrary binary data into the PDF and then write a Reader plug-in that will read this data, display the corresponding graphical representation (possibly as an image or in a modeless dialog?) and allow the user to interact with it by accepting mouse and keyboard input and updating the displayed image accordingly. Does anyone know offhand if this plan is overtly safe or tragically flawed and/or have any specific suggestions about how to do it?
