I find that I am in exactly the same boat.

There was a similar issue in Acrobat 6 in regards to changing the readonly property of fields but I digress.

The workaround I am currently employing (begrudgingly may I add) is to create a hidden field that has the appropriate code in it to check the value of a radio button or checkbox and to then change the display property of whatever fields.

i.e. display = display.hidden or display = display.visible.
