Recently I've been looking into using page-at-a-time displaying for our PDF documents, and I've run into something curious (well, to me anyway).
I found that when I linked to an 8 page PDF document using foo.pdf?page=2, all 8 pages would load and I would start at page 1. When using foo.pdf#page=2, all 8 pages would load and I would start at page 2 as expected. It was my understanding that both methods should work, but that's not real important.
The document I was testing with actually came from another website. On that site, they use a frames based HTML layout to go through their PDF documents. The top frame has buttons to go to the previous/next page, and the content frame has an src tag of foo.pdf?page=X (where X is the page to display). On their site, when the frame src points to foo.pdf?page=2, it ONLY loads page 2, so instead of saying I am on page 2 of 8 it says 1 of 1.
No matter what I try, even copying their frames based layout, I can't get it to display just one page at a time on our server. The best I can do is have it load all 8 pages and then jump to the one I request.
Does anyone know what I might be missing? I'd like to link to the other server I mentioned so you could look for yourself, but the pages I'm talking about are in a members only section, so that wouldn't be any use. Hopefully my explanation was clear enough for you to understand what I mean. If not, please let me know and I'll try to clarify.
