Topic: Questions about DDE FilePrintSilent

I have two questions about this API that I would be most appreciative of any help with:

First, it is possible to specify which printer to use with these commands? I can't find anything about passing in a parameter. If it is not possible to specify a printer for an individual command, then an I correct in assuming that the printer to be used is the last printer selected by a Print Setup command?

Second, the FilePrintSilent and FilePrintSilentEx (and many other) DDE APIs specify that support is limited to Postscript level 1 operators and ASCII data (I assume this means form data!??), I betray my complete lack of Postscript and PDF knowledge here by asking what the practical effects of this limitation are. Does this mean:

a. If a pdf contains certain level 2 or later elements they will not print

b. The document will not print at all if using a level 2 or greater print driver.

c. both a and b

Is the level 1 limitation a potential quagmire for software that will be distributed across a heterogeneous set of environments to print government forms?

Thank You.

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
