I found this in an old post. Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to do this? I am a novice, and this seems to assume a certain knowledge of acrobat that I don't have. I understand the code, but I don't know where to place it. Also the example uses / (like a URL) instead of the usual \ (like a folder address) is this correct? I don't even know what kind of field to create, or what menu items to choose to insert the JAVA script. How do you create the script file mentioned below? How would I initiate the script once it was put into the proper places? A lot of questions I know. I would appreciate any hand up someone could offer.

Probably what you want. You add a menu item using the addMenuItem()
method of the App object, assigning to it the code you want to run. The
menu item is added by means of a script file added to your JavaScripts
folder under your Acrobat program folder.

So how do you do it, once you've figured out where you want to put it?
Here's a sample:

var filename=this.getField("myfilenamefield").value;
var path="/c/mypath/" + filename + ".pdf";
