Topic: Getting a Text Selection's Range

I'm trying to extract the Range (offset, length) of a text selection in an application. It seems in IAC you cannot do this, because I did not see an IAC interface exposing the PDTextSelectRange object and the PDTextSelectGetRange() function available with the plug-in interfaces.

So I tried creating a plug-in to do this in lieu of no IAC support, but I am having problems getting the application to work. I have a menu choice/button I created using the SDK 7.0 plug-in wizard in Visual Studio .NET 2003. Every time I try to extract the range from the text selection I get a NULL pointer to the range object. The code goes like this:

static ACCB1 void ACCB2 Project1Command (void *data)
{
...
PDTextSelect text =
(PDTextSelect)AVDocGetSelection(avDoc);

// Get Page number
int page = PDTextSelectGetPage(text);
char str[256];

// Get Ranges
int rangeCount = PDTextSelectGetRangeCount(text);
if (rangeCount > 0) {
for (ASInt32 i = 1; i <= rangeCount; i++) {

PDTextSelectRange range = NULL;
PDTextSelectGetRange(text, i, range);

if (range == NULL) {
sprintf(str, "Range(%d) is NULL", i);
AVAlertNote(str);
}
else {
...
}
}
}
else {
...
}
}

Help.
Thanks, Yoni
