Some advice..please

I have a file that is a brochure that was made some time ago. Now, its in a PDF format, and I want to change the way the border looks - so I put a square box on it and change the box colour to white.

Now, when I print it, I have to select 'Print with comments' as it is treating the box as a comment box - why does it do that?

How can I change the actual content of the page...text edits are simple and straightforward, but what about colours, things that need to be erased and removed, how is that done?

I seem to be using comments everywhere, for instance, just replacing 'what is there' with something 'on top'; is there another way of doing it?

thanks,

H.
