Topic: Order of 'byte offset' in Cross-Reference Table

Hello,

I develop a pdf-library for writing reports in pdf, I do
not want to use the SDK. I have a question concerning
the cross-reference table.

How important is it for Adobe Acrobat, that byte offset
values in the cross-reference table are ordered ?

What is the consequence if the byte offset values are unsorted ?

For instance following cross reference is not ordered:
------------------------------------------------------

xref
0 14
0000000000 65535 f
0000008422 00000 n
0000008555 00000 n
0000008627 00000 n
0000008679 00000 n
0000008716 00000 n
0000000019 00000 n
0000003033 00000 n
0000003220 00000 n
0000008356 00000 n
0000005634 00000 n
0000006740 00000 n
0000007000 00000 n
0000008101 00000 n

compared to this example (ordered)

xref

0000000000 65535 f
0000000019 00000 n
0000001001 00000 n

Thanks in advance
