We are trying to make a PDF file as accessible as possible to screen readers. However, we weren't given the original file to convert to PDF, which would have made the accessibility issues less difficult. We were given the final PDF file and cannot change the content. (We are using Adobe Pro 7 and are using JAWS 5 and 6.1 for most of our testing.)
We have a few questions that we'd love help with.
(1) How do you handle a table that covers multiple pages but doesn't have the headers repeated on each page? What's the best way to make the table accessible?
(2) In a large document (80 or so pages) with a long table of contents, should you make the page number of each TOC entry a link to the actual page as you might do on a web page? Would the screen reader user be able to go right to that page if desired?
Thanks in advance.
