Topic: How do I serve PDF files from SQL to Web?

Hello, I am new to the board but I hope someone here can help because I am well and truly stuck.

I have uploaded a PDF file to a SQL BLOB field (type:text), now, I want that file to show in a webpage when I click on a link. I have tried the following code (ASP 3.0) but I just get a message saying that pa031847.fdf is non-existant or corrupted etc (and sequential numbered for subsequent files), yet when I link to the file direct on the webserver, I can view it no problem? BTW, pa031847 is NOT the file name of the document, it seems to be something that Acrobat generates.

The code I am using is the following :

Dim rs
Set rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")

' 'select the record according the the Querystring ID that has been passed
rs.Open "select fldDocumentBLOB FROM tblDocuments WHERE fldDocID =" & Request.QueryString("ID"), objConnection, 2, 4

This editor wont allow me to paste the ASP code here, but basically, I set the object classid to clsid:CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000, gave the image source the value of the recordset holding the BLOB, embeded the source within an object tag using the embed tag.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks in advance

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
