Topic: Search For String

I am looking for a method to open a pdf file and see if a specific string is in it. I heave not done much with pdfs before and am not sure where to start
I am using windows and my program uses visual basic 6.
Basically I have a string which should be in the pdf file and I want to open the pdf file and verify that it is the right one before emailing it.

I intend to impliment this in my solution which I provide to clients so am unable to use gpl type licenced products.

I would prefer to do it without any components if this is possible.

Thanks Mike Myers
