I am processing some data coming in unicode binary format to put it into PDF. Now each of the character has a unique Unicode value - say its ascii position. Depending on the font used, I check the corresponding glyph id based on the unicode value of the character by looking up from the cmap table in the font.
For me this seems an correct approach. Let me know if otherwise.
Now, the problem I am facing is, I have seen some fonts with CJK characters which maps, the Latin Range to the unicode characters. For Instance, I expect U+0041(ascii 65) to be "A", Now if some font has mapped - some chinese character on this position - how will I know, while processing my binary data, that U+0041 should not be treated as "A" but some other character?
Do all the fonts follow the Unicode Guidelines of specific character range?
