Topic: Restrict plug-in usage to a set number of forms

I'm looking to restrict the use of a plug-in I created to a set number forms. At present, my thinking is to implement a key inside the registry (like a counter) at the time of installation to keep track of the number of forms in which the plug-in is associated with. For example, one person may purchase a license for ten forms while another may purchase a license for fifty forms. This noted, I am looking for the most common way to accomplish this particular task, i.e., add code to my plug-in cpp file or use an installation software like winZip. Thank you ahead of time.
