First, this question is best asked on the "Paper-to-PDF" forum rather
than the "Accessibility" forum. However...

Look at ABBYY FineReader - pretty good stuff.

There is doubtless an option in the software to leave the image alone...

Ahh... OK, so you need the files processed as-is. I know that Adobe's
Acrobat Capture will do that, but FineReader wants to make "batches" and
eliminates your source file names.
There are other options... Readiris, for example, will do what you need,
I believe.
