Topic: Reader vs. Editor focus timing issues

I'm doing a pdf that has the "copy data to the clipboard" feature as a workaround for Reader users to save some of the data if they change a form I have in the document. A tip I found out about here, so a general thanks to the collective brainpower of this forum.

But, something is going wrong. I am using Acrobat Editor 5 and Reader 5. Specifically:

1) A Javascript function does a setFocus command to the field whose contents are to be copied to the clipboard. Works fine.
2) This field has the menu events "Select All" and "Copy" triggered by the "on focus" condition. This is done via the field parameters rather than app.execMenuItem, since that command doesn't seem to work and I do no have access to the infinitely large developer document that has the platform-independent command names to try those out.

Anyway, these two steps work flawlessly under the Editor, but when you run it under Reader, it selects all the -other- text items in the document rather than the contents of the field just focused on.

In Editor, it focuses on the field, then selects and copies the content, but in Reader, it selects and copies the content everywhere else, then focuses on the field.

What am I doing wrong here? Is there some other conditional that I can trigger these events off of to make it happen in the right order.

Any help appreciated.

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
