I am new to working with Acrobat and I am trying to accomplish the following:
I have a PDF file (map) with numbers that represent different region. Each number is associated with another PDF file. Example, 234 is associated with region234map.pdf. All the maps are stored in the same directory. I can manually link each number to the associated file, but this will be a pain to change if the file location should change.
I want to create a link/script/procedure combination that will pass the number to a routine that will then open the associated PDF file. Example, if I click on the 234 link, the number 234 will then be passed to a routine that will fill in the rest of the file name and directory where the file is located, and then open the document in the same window. If the files are stored in C:\RegionMaps, clicking on the 234 link will call a routine that generates C:\RegionMaps\region234.pdf and then open the file in the same window. This way, if the file location should change, I only have to change it in the routine/script once while maintaining all the links in the document.
GetFilePath(FileNumber as String)
FilePath = “C:\RegionMaps\”
OpenFile = FilePath & “region” & FileNumber & “map.pdf”
// Next open the pdf file in the same window if the reader is already open
How can I accomplish this in Acrobat?
