Topic: Distiller - DOS command line - is there a size limit?

I am using some page makeup software that will shell out to dos and then start up Distiller to automate my PDF production.
Using this method I then provide the version of distiller to start, the .joboptions to use and the location/destination of the file to be distilled.
This is done by using the -J -O command line options.
It appears that the -O option has a limit on the length of the parameter.
i.e If the path and the filename are too long Distiller then displays a box saying the file cannot be found. I notice that the name of the file has been truncated.
If I shorten the name or the path then I have no problem.
This only appears to effect the -O param.
The other parts of the command line make no difference (If shorten these I still have the problem).
The limit seems to be 159 characters.
Does anyone know of this limit and is there a way around it?
p.s I would prefer not to have to develop another way to distill these files as I have no skill to develop another way apart from the shelling out to dos approch that I am using.
I would appreciate any thoughts
