Topic: How to apply filters/encoding to images?

I am writing code to crop the images. I read the image from the source PDF, crop it and write it to destination PDF.
I am able to successfully crop the image. But the size of PDf created is too large.
I am not clear on how to apply filters/decoding to the images created.

I am doing the following :
1. read 'PDEImage' from the source PDF.
2. Get the image data using 'PDEImageGetData'
3. From this data, I generate the cropped data.
4. I use this crop data to generate PDEImage using folllowing call,
pdeImageCrop = PDEImageCreate (&imageAttrs, (Uns32) sizeof (imageAttrs),
&matrix, kPDEImageEncodedData, imgColorSpace, &pdeColorValue, NULL, NULL,
clipData, clipDataLen);

The source image has filters "DCTDecode".
I tried applying this filter in the followin way but it did not work,

PDEFilterArray fltArray;
fltArray.spec [0].decodeParms = CosNewNull ();
fltArray.spec [0].encodeParms = CosNewNull ();
fltArray.spec [0].name = ASAtomFromString ("DCTDecode");
fltArray.numFilters = 1;

pdeImageCrop = PDEImageCreate (&imageAttrs, (Uns32) sizeof (imageAttrs),
&matrix, kPDEImageEncodedData, imgColorSpace, &pdeColorValue, &fltArray, NULL,
clipData, clipDataLen);

I am not sure whether this is correct way to apply filters.

What would be the correct way to reduce compress the image / reduce the PDF size.
