I've been looking on-and-off, time permitting, for several weeks for a solution to a problem I've been trying to work through. However, all the PDF software packages and options are a bit overwhelming. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for, or the correct verbiage for what it is I'm looking for, so it's making it difficult to search. I'm hoping that somebody here might be able to point me in the right direction.
Basically, this is what I need... I'd like create a PDF file using one of the common authoring tools (probably originating in Illustrator, and exported from there.. (I'm not a graphic designer, someone else will handle this portion of the project)). This PDF file will contain several objects that need to be programatically toggled on and off. We'll start with this fresh PDF, with all objects either on or off, and using some SDK (this is where I need some direction as to which SDK) be able to address these objects (I assume they can all be tagged with an ID of some sort) and toggle them on or off (hide/show). As I've attempted to describe, the entire point is to be able to generate custom PDFs on the fly based on the original document simply by toggling these different bits.
I assume this is quite feasible, but I'm not 100% sure which piece of software I need, or if there are any requirements on the initial PDF design/creation.
