I am on a project in which a third party piece of software creates pdfs and puts them in a MS SQL 2000 database. My job is to make a search tool that will find pdfs and open them. I have been having lots of trouble with this because the software that creates the pdfs puts them in an image(binary) field in the database as text. I have to pull the file out as a binary array (because it is in a binary field) and convert it back into "binary" data from "text" data. I have had some success with a line of code like this (c#):
byte  decoded = System.Text.Encoding.Convert(System.Text.UnicodeEncoding.Unicode, System.Text.UTF8Encoding.UTF8, binaryFile);
(This converts from unicode to UTF8)
This will allow me to open up v1-1 pdfs but when I try to open v1-2 pdfs, the pdf opens with the correct number of pages, but all the pages are blank. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
