Topic: Problem with PDFlib Blocks & PDFlib alternatives

I'm evaluating PDFlib blocks for use within our organization and I'm
running into the following problem.

I have several thousand forms that have PDF form fields and I would
like to add PDFlib blocks to them (I need both, the form fields for
user interaction and the blocks for server manipulation).

Some form fields have the "Form Field" property set to "Hidden".
When I convert to blocks, the blocks corresponding to the hidden
fields have the "Status" property set to "Ignore" which is correct.
However, the "Form Field" property on the PDF form field is changed
to "Visible" -- Why???

What really worries me is who knows what other properties are
changed in the conversion process - fields on my forms have JScript,
Calculations and all sorts of different property settings (since I
have so many forms and I'll use batch conversion to get the job
done, there is no way I can go thru so many fields and and check
that the form has not been comprimised).

Does anyone out there know of an alternative to using PDFlib blocks to accomplish the following tasks using PHP/FreeBSD?

--> Server-side merging of data to a PDF
--> Flatten forms
--> Image stamping

Here's what I'm trying to do - Have an interactive pdf where the user enters data and clicks on a submit button, the data is written to a database, and then the pdf form is served back to the user again with additional data added to it - this time flattened so that nothing can be changed on the form.

Thanks,

Meir

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
