I have an issue installing and configuring a plugin that works with both Reader and Standard or Professional. The source of the problem is the plugin's dependancy on DLLs that are installed in the application directory under program files/application. Our installer used to copy the DLLs to the appropriate Adobe directory (either Acrobat or Reader), but this seems to be a sloppy way of deploying the plugin. Currently, we are trying to add our application directory (which contains the DLLs) to the AcroRd32.exe and/or Acrobat.exe App Paths (registry). This works fine for reader, the plugin finds it's DLLs via the reader App Path and loads. Acrobat, on the other hand, fails to load the plugin. The reason appears to be that, upon starting Acrobat Standard or Professional, the Acrobat.exe App Path is reset to contain only the Adobe/Acrobat directory. The application directory that I add to this path is gone as soon as I start Acrobat.
Any ideas on how I can keep this from happening or otherwise path my app dll's so that Acrobat and Reader plugins pick them up?
