I'm trying to use Javascript from within Visual Basic Ver 5 to open, select a printer and then print a pdf document to a file.

Code I have is:

Dim AcroExchApp As Acrobat.CAcroApp
Dim PDDoc As Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc
Dim AVDoc As Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc
Dim jso As Object

Dim pp As Variant
Dim printResult As Variant

If AcroExchApp Is Nothing Then

Set AcroExchApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
Set PDDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")

If PDDoc.Open("C:\test.pdf") Then

Set jso = PDDoc.GetJSObject
Set pp = jso.getPrintParams()

pp.filename = "c:\temp\test.prn"
pp.PrinterName = "HP LaserJet 5L"

printResult = jso.Print(pp)

End If

This gives me an automation error which I think is related to the PrintParams Object.

If I replace the printResult line with(so that I'm not using the printParams object)

printResult = jso.Print(False)

The print to the printer works using the default printer printing to LPT1. Because of the False parameter the print dialog does not appear as it should not.

Interestingly enough if I change the printResult line to

printResult = jso.Print(False, pp)

I get no error but no print either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Adding a PDF Stamp Comment

OK, so you want to stamp your document. Maybe you need to give reviewers some advice about the document's status or sensitivity. This tip from author Ted Padova demonstrates how to add stamps with the Stamp Tool along with related comments.
