Topic: HOWTO delete xobjects in pdf?

Hi all,

I have been working with iText to create and modify pdf documents. Some of the documents I have been processing lately have been created with scanner software that creates hidden text under an image xobject. I would like to delete the image object and create a compressed jbig layer in it's place. Does anyone know how to delete this image layer while leaving the text layer in tact? I'd like to do this programatically via code or using a lib like iText. I am using this server-side so Acrobat is not appropriate.

Example of XOjbect:

<<
/Length 8037839
/Filter /DCTDecode
/Width 2553
/Height 3405
/BitsPerComponent 8
/ColorSpace /DeviceRGB
/Type /XObject
/Name /im1
/Subtype /Image
>>

Thanks in Advance:
