Topic: Create PDFs on the fly, from HTML (sans Postscript)

Hi PDF Experts.
I have an application written in VB-like code (specifically, Lotusscript) on a server, which creates reports on the fly based on user choices and displays it in the browser. I want to convert the output from HTML to PDF, and email it (and possibly to display in the browser).
But there is a constraint: I don't want to take the intermediate Postscript step because it loses too much formatting (like the background color and table borders).
I also don't want to create a PDF file from scratch using PDF Library. That will take much more time and resources than are available. Also, we've already created the output in HTML, why should we now have it two places (one for HTML output and one for PDF output). I want to convert the output I already have.
There don't seem to be any Adobe products that can do this (maybe Elements Server?).
So how can I convert HTML output to PDF without losing any formatting in VB-like code?
