Look at the document properties, specifically the fonts. If you are creating the document, you need to embed the fonts, if not contact the vendor and see about their providing a pdf with the embedded fonts.
PDFs can be created with or without font embedding. Font embedding places enough font information so a system without the font used can display the font. If fonts are not embedded, Acrobat will try to substitute a font if possible. Embedding fonts causes the PDF to be larger but readable on all systems.
Here is a copy with the all the fonts except courier embedded.
