OK, you can't do a default directory (at least not that I can find). However what you can do is change your places bar to point to where you want it to. Download TweakUI and make a custom "PlacesBar." This will work great if you want a permanently different places bar. However, I open Acrobat in a program I wrote so that it sets the registry key to point to my directory when I open Acrobat, and then resets the PlacesBar back to it's normal stuff when i exit that process. It works quite well and saves me alot of button clicks!
