The PDF DOM is supported by Adobe Reader as well as Acrobat Pro, so I'm puzzled about why you are getting this behavior. I wonder if we have an installation problem.

After you installed Acrobat Pro, did the QueryInterface continue to fail when running Adobe Reader?
