What you'll need to do is "effectively" the same as scanning, but quick
and clean and all done with keystrokes. You should rasterize the PDF
file (one way using Acrobat alone is to simply Export all the pages to
TIFFs, then simply recreate the PDF from the TIFFs). There are, of
course, software packages that will do this for you as well.
On the other hand... you should be aware that if the other side is even
moderately technically proficient, they could simply OCR the files you
hand over and search the results. To prevent this, you'd need
heavy-duty encryption technology such as Authentica. In all cases,
however, if you want to prevent someone searching through a file in any
sort of cast-iron way, you simply HAVE to prevent them from printing it
as well.
