I'm in agreement with you on that one.
I think the extra effort to try to make it unsearchable isn't really worth in when they could print/scan/OCR if they really wanted to.
I think it's one thing to make it searchable, so folks can find stuff. But it's a whole other thing to let them cut/paste/edit an original document.
I also agree that we are still in the baby stages of what PDFs will mean in legal. We get to figure it all out, and a lot of that will be within the context of what the tools can/can't do.
