Don't do that.
Print directly to the Adobe PDF Printer for the best quality
PDFs using a printing path.

You probably switched PPDs on your printer to one in B&W.
BUT the right way would have been to produce a color PDF and
then use Acrobat or a 3rd party tool to convert to B&W.
