I have a need in optimizing the size of my pdf document which I created using AbcPdf library.
I use libary to draw gantt chart to the document, so that there are lots of graphics and text. I draw all graphics primitives through pdf content, to be more precise I use PdfContent class which was shipped as an example with AbcPdf library.
Also after drawing all the content to the page I use Flatten method of the Doc class.
So, after creating the chart I have the document with 21 pages and of size 534 Kb.
But... there are two things that bother me:
1) Scrolling in the document is noticeably slow;
2) I print my document to the another pdf document and as a result I have pdf of the size 54 Kb with fast scrolling.
The following info was shown by 'Audit space usage...' feature:
Description Bytes Percentage
Bookmarks 32 00.01%
Content Streams 514,537 94.15%
Fonts 14,826 02.71%
Document Overhead 12,757 02.33%
Cross Reference Table 4,340 00.79%
Does it mean that I shouldn't draw graphics using content stream?
Or there is something else I've missed?
I've tried to use Advanced/PDF Optimizer feature in Acrobat Pro 7.0, but it gave me optimized document of the size 536Kb (???)
Could you, please, give me advice how to solve this problem?
P.S. I need to optimize the size in the code of my app not with the help of tools.
