Let's start with the first question - WHY do you want to
remove Indexed color? Indexed colors a compact/smaller way to
represent may images - and are therefore used by a variety of PDF
creation and optimization tools to keep file size down.
Second, do you want to remove ALL indexed colors or only
some? (eg. convert Gray, but not CMYK).
Third, would you want a tool that was interactive or
automated? For what OS platform?
