Topic: How do i Close Acrobat when exiting browser

situation:
there is an embedded acrobat/reader file in msie. if/when the user exits the app by shutting down the browser, a hidden acrobat file remains. to (temporarily, i hope) workaround for now, i must either use task manager to end the acrobat task, or reload acrobat manually and then exit it.

question:
how do i shut acrobat/reader down programmatically when user exits the browser?

note:
i'm using vb.net (no FDF objects, please. too many issues) to construct an FDF file and then programmatically merging it into the PDF for the user to view in browser.

it would be cool to work entirely in vb.net if possible but if only js works, then please be a little more effusive with your explanation. i can work with snippets and have used js to construct a project in the past but i'm really quite rusty at it today.
