A friend of mine was having trouble with downloaded PDF files not opening. She forwarded the original files to me, and I discovered the "completed downloads" were only partials, which naturally wouldn't open.

The files are typically 3-7 megs. Non-PDF files as large as 23 megs downloaded fine in the same period.

She uses WinXP, IE6 & gmail. The problem also existed when using Hotmail. I have tried downloading on three computers, including one with Win98SE. I have tried Firefox 1 in place of IE6 with the same results.

The sender received the files as attachments, so they were originally downloadable.

Has anyone had this problem?
