We are creating small adverts in hi res PDF format for newspapers and
magazines. Occasionally when the advert appears in the press the
characters become jumbled and are not aligned on the baseline (see
example PDF).

We think the PDFs are re-PDF’d at the newspaper.

We’ve read about Ansi encoding which seems to appear when we
create a Quark eps and then drop it into Distiller.

Is this a clash with system fonts in Mac OSX Panther on our system?

Has anyone seen anything similar to this or know why this problem is
caused?
