Topic: how to create a macro

i've been asked to take over a project that involves opening each pdf in a folder, checking to see if it has an odd or even number of pages, and append a blank sheet to the last page if the page count is odd.

i was given documentation by the previous developer who states that i should 'script a process to add a blank page to the odd page count files'. i looked for a macro recording function, but couldn't find one. i then tried looking into the scripting options, but those appear to be more related to what happens when a file is opened, closed, etc.

as i understand it, i can write an app in vb to instantiate a javascript object that should allow me to do this. question is, is this the only way to do this? also, is purchasing the $99USD acrobat sdk really necessary?

tks in advance.
