I'm working on a public display which displays front pages of newspapers. It all works well, we use a custom program which I wrote which uses apple's PDF framework to display PDF's we download.

While this works the majority of the time, there are a few papers which consistently display wrong in my viewer application, and in OSX's Preview application. They display fine in Acrobat 7 Professional.

At this point I just don't know where the problem lies. I suspect we'll end up just not using the papers that don't work, but I'd like to persue it a bit more before giving up. Any hints or ideas are certainly appreciated.
