Topic: Are Acrobat Forms for me?

Hi all.. quick bit of advice from you..

I do a lot of field work on mechanical/electronic installations.. I have to record all the serial #'s, operational status etc.. of each station I visit.

At the moment, I print out a single double sided page in Word and fill it all out in pen in the field..

This doesnt make a lot of sense as I have to have a laptop with me anyways.. and I'd like to take my Word "form" and convert it/create an interactive PDF version with a few radio buttons / check boxes and data entry fields.. then click "save" and it'll either prompt for, or take a name from a data field and save itself and its data to a file on the laptop.

Ive never gone anywhere near this type of thing in acrobat before, but am a 18+ year computer user/tech and have done minor coding here and there in years past..

Is Acrobat forms going to meet my needs relatively easily? Is there a WYSIWYG editor for forms or?

Dont want to drop a bunch of money on the Acrobat creator to find out its going to be nasty.. or incapable..
