We have hundreds of ACAD engineering drawings for mechanical systems(HVAC, Plumbing, Chilled Water, etc). I need to output those files to PDF and have some intelligence available on those files. For example, after retrieving a certain drawing, I need to display certain items after they are selected from a menu. For example, 'Isolate Chiller #1' would highlight certain valves by color, dot, arrow, flag, etc. The Highlighted items would be located on a certain layer in the ACAD file the PDF was created from.
Is this possible, if so, how difficult is it and what would be the suggested approach?
