The method you were using was for PDFWriter. However, PDFWriter does not even exist in Acrobat 6. I think you are assuming that "Adobe PDF" is the same thing; it is not, it is the same as the old "Acrobat Distiller" driver.
Acrobat 7 introduces a new registry-based method of stopping prompts with the Adobe PDF driver too; this is in the Acrobat SDK, Distiller API document.
