Topic: Not a 'Reader/Save' question

I understand that Adobe Reader does not save data entered into a fillable form. My question involves one computer and Adobe Acrobat Professional, and I have spent over 15 hours on this site alone trying to find the answer that I need. I seriously need some help!
I work in a small office setting. We have on our computers Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional as well as the 7.0 upgrade. I have been asked to convert our MS Word forms into fillable forms (which I figured out from scratch - I had no experience with anything .pdf related before this). My boss wants me to figure out how to save the entire form (including the entered data) in a format where we can alter the entered data as needed.
The form I am working with has client contact info, which changes from time to time (we have all had to move or change our phone numbers at some point, right?), and this is to be saved as both a hard copy in the client's file as well as our office's database.
I have spent (read wasted) too many hours trying to figure out how to do this using the help menu in both Acrobat and Designer with no success. I have no background in programming, so please respond in plain language. Any help is greatly appreciated!
