Hi there. I'm currently pulling my hair out at a pdf problem I am having.
First here is some background:
I'm running Filemaker on a mac computer, and part of my database
communicates with a website, grabs raw pdf code from the website
source, and stores it in a field in the filemaker database. (see attached
file for the raw pdf code in a text file).
So I have this raw code in a field in my database, I am then able to
export the field contents to a text file as per attachment. The code is
that of a pdf, but simply changing the extension from txt to pdf is not
enough to get it to open in preview.
Now, however if I open the same file in textwrangler, and file->save as -

and is a pdf document.
What I want to know is - how can I perform this "conversion" that
textwranger does on the text file to actually turn it into a legitimate pdf
if I open up a terminal window and use the "file" command on both, the
text file version says it is UTF-16 Big Endian format. the pdf saved using
textwranger is PDF document version 1.3.
You may be saying "so just open the text file in textwrangler and save it
as a pdf". BUT I want to be able to do this from entirely within the
filemaker solution as an automated process. The tools I have available
to me are applescript & whatever applescript is capable of (that I am
Is there a way to change a files character encoding from UTF to PDF -

If you need any clarification - which you probably will - I will endeavour
to clear up any questions.
