Hi,
I work at a newspaper as a designer and IT person. Over the year we've been running we have had an intermittent problem with our PDFs. Intermittent as in between once a fortnight up to extreme cases of multiple times in one PDF.
The problem is one or more images will be corrupt and display the first part of the image (first 10% - 90% of the image) and then streak the rest. It's basically duplicating the last line written to the bottom of the image. Sometimes re-PDFing it will fix it but sometimes its very persistent.
Just today we had the same issue where almost all of the images were corrupt in this way but upon re-PDFing it it was fixed. However after sending it via FTP to our printer they received it with the images corrupted. This has never happened before.
We are using the Adobe CS2 suite. Updates don't seem to fix the problem. We are using a slightly older version of distiller as, for some reason, our printers have trouble with the PDF files from the newer version. I'm sorry I can't give exact numbers at the moment as I'm writing this from home.
Has anyone ever come across this problem and if so can it be fixed? (I have never been able to find anything like it)
Mitch
