I work for a small analytical lab, and my boss has asked me to 'spruce up' our PDF reports that we send to clients. He wanted me to use another lab's PDF as a reference point.
I'm trying to figure out what tools I can use to get automatic bookmarking for our PDF's (Cover Sheet, TOC, Sample Summary, Chain of Custody, Sample Analysis Reports, etc).
Here is a link(attached) to a PDF in which my boss deemed to be a favorable example...
Can anyone give me suggestions on this? Right now we take everything from our MSSQL Database and print the reports out into FinePrint, then merge the fineprint data with a couple of scanned documents that are only available in paper form.
The end result is the report we need with no bookmarks(or sub bookmarks) and no tabbing or spiffy company logos. So Again, we want to spruce it up and give it color and nice bookmarks and the page tabbing system perhaps?
According to the document properties of the attached file, it looks like they use pdflib+pdi, so they seem to have developed their own PDF system..
I could possibly go that route, but I haven't written significant blocks of code in a decade.
