I have recently been looking to create a new workflow when producing a PDF from Quark 6.5 and have run into a few problems.
I setup a 'watched' folder in Acrobat Distiller 7.0 and linked to this same folder in Quark 6.5. When creating a PDF from Quark I go to the "File > Export > Layout as PDF" menu and create a postscript file for distilling through Acrobat.
My original process of creating a PDF was to go through this same menu, save as a postscript file and then open the ps file in "Preview" and save it as a PDF from there. I want to try and eliminate that process, but so far no luck...
When the postscript file is distilled via the watched folder in Distiller 7.0, it appears all in black with no spot colours as per the original file. I have attempted other Acrobat versions (1.3 - 1.6) with the same end result.
Also if I create a PDF directly from the "Export > Layout as PDF" feature in Quark, the stroke width in certain boxes appears thicker than the original file, so it seems that saving a postscript file in Preview or actually printing to Adobe PDF with the Acrobat Distiller PPD seems the only two ways to go at the moment...!
If anyone out there has a solution, perhaps an extension or plug-in that I need? or some preferences that might not be quite right? I would love to hear from you and appreciate your comments.
