I want to create an ebook of book reviews that will be distributed in PDF format. The client wants the ability for the PDF to contain a shopping list for each book reviewed.

The concept would be that there would be a button or check box at the end of each book review that would say "Add to shopping list". Then at the end of the book there would be a page listing all of the books with checkmarks next to the ones that the reader selected.

Could this be done with a PDF? I am not seeing anything like this in any documentation I've found. Maybe using Javascript to write to a flatfile?
