We are generating PDFs using InDesign and Acrobat. The resulting PDFs display OK when viewed in Acrobat Reader, but in Preview they have visual artefacts.
Here is an example PDF which displays fine in Acrobat Reader but not Preview:
http://glob.bushi.net.nz/tmp/alfa%20romeo%20alfetta,%20giulietta,%20gtv%20&%20gtv%206,%201975-87.pdf
On the second page (p163) the following differences can be seen:

Input / recommendations appreciated. We want our PDFs to be compatible with peoples default / installed PDF viewer, rather than having to suggest they download a particular application.
Our Acrobat is 7.0 Pro Mac.
